REAL HOPES

FOR AFRICA

REAL HOPE is universal. If we are to live in real peace within diversity then it may be wise to consider teaching values to the children of the World. This does not mean globalisation or sameness, this means unity within diversity through shared values. Values transcend culture and return us to our common humanity.

R.E.A.L. H.O.P.E. can be shared with other countries. Values such as love, empathy, responsibility, honesty, oneness, joy and peace create and bind a community, that is a common-unity with each other. The program develops life skills. Children will learn how to communicate with each other through learning mediation. This entails listening, speaking skills, generating options and solutions to problems. It emphasises looking at the problem not the person.

Children will learn about their emotions in terms of what emotions they feel and how they project their emotions. They will become aware of their surroundings, aware of themselves and their impact on others.

Children are taken through each of the values to discuss and experience values. They are also taught circus skills such as juggling to experience having fun by learning new skills without competition. The program is designed to be fun and empowering for children and to develop peaceful behaviours.

OWN Empowerment has received a invitation to Nigeria to teach children the REAL HOPE   The project is based in the Niger Delta in Nigeria.  Collins Imoh is the project coordinator of Protect Our Future.  The initiative has as its primary goal to build a democratic as well as a culture of peace among the youth of Nigeria by training their teachers and the students.   The youth form a significant majority of the population of Nigeria. Once aware of their civic responsibilities they will be a powerful voice in sustaining democratic values and a culture of peace. The strategy is to train teachers in both primary and secondary schools, who in turn will assist in training students on a culture of peace. This peace education project given in schools will have an effect in the wider community.

OWN Empowerment is seeking a sponsor for an air ticket and accommodation to attend a Peace Camp as a World Peace Clown to teach the values based REAL HOPE peace, nonviolence and anti-bullying program.

If we could do it on love alone, we would.  But we do need to be funded.  So if you feel the desire to make a difference contact O.W.N.
