El Salvador
El Salvador is in Central America and has a population of 6,948,073 and the city of San Salvador has a population of 2.1 million. It was interesting to be in this city, I became aware of violence very quickly. I was warned not to catch a taxi late at night to the bus, my friend Rosa took me there. There are people with guns ensuring security in many places. Organised crime is present and I feel the legacy of the war. I tried to talk to a former soldier about values and empowerment of youth in peace education. He had never heard of the idea. Perhaps one day I can share my work. I met very poor kids who couldn’t afford shoes, my friend Rosa new of the coach of the basketball team, so I was able to interview them. Video material is on my blog Clowning Around the World.
