Wisdom

What is wisdom but knowledge applied. It is a silent knowingness of having being there and a gentleness of spirit to allow others to walk their path without judgement or negativity. The words gathered on this page are words that have inspired me. I have felt an instant knowingness. I was not introduced to the wisdom by any person I mostly just came across it and recognised it. Some might say it feels like confirmation. I have written thousands of poems, it just flows, sometimes I re-read them and wonder where the wisdom comes from. In my heart I know.

Here is sample to inspire and provoke deeper thought..

PEACE PILGRIM – Was an inspiring woman who walked 25,000 miles and vowed to remain a wanderer until mankind learned the way of peace.

Some of her words:

“We who work for peace must not falter. We must continue to pray for peace and to act for peace in whatever way we can, we must continue to speak for peace and to live the way of peace; to inspire others, we must continue to think of peace and to know that peace is possible”

This is the way of peace:

“overcome evil with good
falsehood with truth
and hatred with love”

Four preparations:

1) Assume right attitude toward life;

2) Live good beliefs;

3) Find your place in the life pattern;

4) Simplify life to bring inner and outer well-being into harmony.

Four purifications:

1) Purification of the bodily temple;

2) Purification of the thoughts;

3) Purification of the desires;

4) Purification of motives.

MAHATMA GANDHI – is considered the father of nonviolence. He was one Indian who influenced 350 million Indians through his belief in Satyagraha (truth and love).

“My Life is my message”

“Forgiveness is the virtue of the brave. He alone who is strong enough to avenge a wrong knows how to love (and forgive)”

“When a man submits to another through fear, he does not follow his nature but yields to brute force”

“Nonviolence should never be used as a shield for cowardice. It is a weapon for the brave”

“I see neither bravery nor sacrifice in destroying life or property for offence or defence.”

“It may be long before the law of love will be recognised in internal affairs. The machineries of governments stand between and hide the hearts of one people from those of another” (Sources: Gandhi ‘In My Own Words’, http://www.mkgandhi.org/ )

CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD – the books are the result of a conversation by Neale Donald Walsch.

UNIVERSAL LAWS

First law: You can be, do and have whatever you can imagine.

Second law: You attract what you fear.

Laws 1) Thought is creative, 2) fear attracts like energy, 3) love is all there is.

“Einstein theorised that if it wasn’t time which was moving, but he who was moving through space at a given rate, all he had to do was change the amount of space between objects – or change the rate of speed with which he moved through space from one object to another – to alter time”.

“Your world, and the condition it is in, is a reflection of the total, combined consciousness of everyone living there”

“The evolution of society is measured by how well it treats the least among its members”

“You don’t understand the most basic concepts of civilised societies.

You don’t know how to solve conflict without violence.
You don’t know how to live without fear.
You don’t know how to love without condition.
These are basic – basic – understandings, and you have not even begun to approach a full comprehension of them, much less implement them…after thousands and thousands of years.”

“Yet I tell you this – Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.”

“One day of doing nothing but My will would bring you enlightenment”

“No one comes to you by accident. There is no such thing as coincidence. Nothing occurs at random. Life is not a product of chance. Events, like people, are drawn to you, by you, for your own purposes. Larger planteary experiences and developments are the result of group consciousness”

“Most people don’t care about the suffering masses, the oppression of minorities, the anger of the underclass, or the survival needs of anyone but themselves and their immediate families. Most people do not see that they are destroying their Earth – the very planet that gives them Life because their actions seek only to enhance their quality of life”

“The inability to experience the suffering of another as one’s own is what allows such suffering to continue” (quotes from Book 2).

LAO TZU – Is a mysterious ancient Chinese Sage. He lived around 700BC.

“The highest good is like water. Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so it is like the Tao.”

“In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be Just.
In daily life, be competent.
In action, be aware of the time and the season.
No fight: No blame.”

“If a wholly Great One rules the people hardly know that he exists.
Lesser men are loved and praised,
still lesser ones are feared,
still lesser ones are despised.
How thoughtful one must be in what one says!
The work done, business takes its course,
and all people think: ‘We are free’.”

“Name or person: which is closer?
Person or possession: which is more?
Winning or losing: which is worse?
But then: whosoever hankers after other things inevitably uses up the great things.
Whosoever masses things inevitably loses the important things.
Whosoever is self-sufficient does not come to shame.
Whosoever knows how to practice restraint does not get into danger and thus can last forever.” (Source: Tao Te Ching – The Richard Wilhelm Edition).
